Easter night we were sitting around talking about my sister going home to California wishing she could stay longer when Devon chimed in with "Why don't you go home with her. I have to work all week." Really? The next thing that went through my mind was 10 hours of driving in the car with my kids! After a good nights sleep we packed our bags and hit the road. Jake was occupied with his new movie from Easter and Emily kept saying,"I can't believe were going to California." I don't do to many things spur of the moment. The trip was not to bad with the hour or so break to play at Grandma Skinny's.
Jake got to finally use his new golf clubs at a par 3 course with uncle Toe. His new clubs are a little long and he had a little tougher time, but he would not hit with the old clubs either. But with a little help from dad he's doing quite well with the new ones. As for me I love the par three course. I wish we had some in Utah. The kids were done and too hot to play more than 9 holes. Sure wish we could of played the back 9. The 70 degree weather was too much and they were ready for the pool.
The kids love the pool. They kind of forgot how to swim so mom had to jump in and save Jake. I hate cold water but once I HAD to get in it was much more fun than worrying from the sidelines. The water wasn't too cold but it was a bit breezy. Jake never stopped shivering from the time he jumped in. After a while he said his stomach hurt. I think he takes in a lot of water or he's just really cold and his muscles hurt. They are turning into fish. It almost makes me want to put in a pool out back. Too bad summer's only lasts a few months.
Jake started out saying, "I don't like the beach, it takes to long to get there." This time he loved jumping over the waves, and throwing all the rock back into the ocean. Emily loved building sandcastles and ended up jumping waves with Jake in the end. I put one foot in the water and said go have fun it is freezing. I don't know how they can stand the cold water. Terri and I were wrapped in a towel watching them. On the way back to the car, Jake said,"I like the beach now mom." Ya Me too. We played at the parks a lot and fed the ducks too. Jake got the big black geese to eat out of his hand. It was nice to just enjoy the warm weather and hang out with my sister. Thanks Troy and Lauren!
