Praying Mantis Meal

Not for the faint at heart! This was one of the coolest things of our summer. Our friend Katie showed Jake how to make a habitat for this little grasshopper they caught which he thought was awesome. He usually just puts it in a container and it dies. The next day we found another big grasshopper and a praying mantis. He put them both in the container and the praying mantis quickly attacked the little grasshopper, ripped it's head off and starting eating it. It was truly amazing to watch! Jake loved it!

4-Wheeling

After we went camping this summer we decided we like the 4- wheelers. So we decided to take some short one day trips. There just happens to be a place called Log Cabin just up Nephi Canyon 15 minutes. We packed our lunch and headed out. When we got there and unloaded the trailer it started to rain and get a little chilly in our shorts. So, since we were so close we came home ate lunch and got dressed in warmer attire and headed back up. By the time we got back the storm had passed. It was a beautiful ride and so much fun. We even took a few little fun side trails. Emily loves riding and Jake likes it when we stop and he can explore, like looking for grasshoppers. Next year we're going to try to roast hot dogs and smore's at the top of the mountain.

Golf Fun

We had some fun times golfing this summer. Jake loves to golf if he gets a soda, a cart, and it's not too hot. He loves hangin with Dad. Sometimes he doesn't want mom coming along. He is getting pretty good at swinging a club and driving the cart. Looking for bugs is always lots of fun for Jake too. Watch out for the dragonflies, they bite (Jake learned that the hard way when mom made him hold it up while she took a couple pictures).

soccer

Soccer season was fun! Jake was the scoring machine. He was fun to watch. He scored 1 or 2 goals in every game but one. His highest scoring game was 4 goals! He seems to be a natural, like his dad. But, he doesn't like being tackled from behind. We're glad that happened in the last game.

Emily played soccer this year. She played with 1st through 3rd grader boys and girls . Those 3rd grade boys are quite big. She loved playing defense. Running around the whole game is really hard work. She was a little shy at first but Dad offered her a quarter for every time she touched the ball. This motivated her and she was just figuring things out when she broke her arm and missed the last 4 games.
