Uh oh!

Check out Emily's new look! Emily broke her arm (humerus right above her elbow) on Sat. while her mom and Dad were in San Diego. Grandma Skinny took good care of her, thanks! She was running at the park and tripped over her flip flops and fell on the sidewalk. It is really hard to be so far away when your baby is hurt and needs you, I was ready to be home! Luckily we were on our way home the next morning. She just got the cast on today and she is liking it a whole lot better than the temporary one she got in the E.R. She can hold a pencil with it so school will be much better tomorrow. She's not much of a lefty. She is the flower girl for Britney's wedding on Thursday, so good thing one of the colors is green. Maybe the cast will blend in.

Cowabunga Baby!

Our favorite new summer water park. Cowabunga Bay! We went twice. Lots of water slides just my kids size. Emily loved all the slides even the scary ones. Her and Tommy were very adventurous. Jake went on all the open slides with mom. But with the wind he was always too cold and wanted to spend his time in the heated pool and lazy river.

The living aquarium

We finally made it to the living aquarium. We wanted to feed the sting ray but it was full. The kids had fun touching them as they swam by though. Our favorite animals were the green anaconda and the caiman. The poisonous dart frogs were pretty cool too. It was fun to have Grandma Due come with us to share in the fun.

Swim lessons

The kids always love swim lessons. There were only 3 kids in their class so they really improved. Emily had a tough time going in head first with her dive but finally got brave at the end to passed level 3. Jake does great at everything but the back stroke. He just sinks to the bottom. You still have to watch him close when he gets tired. He had a scary moment at the end of lessons one day (good thing mom was watching) and all the lifeguards watched him a little more closely after that. It's all about the crazy stunts they can do off the diving board this year! They want me to take them to the pool everyday.

Snake!!!

Devo was on his way to check the mail and this is what was in his path soaking up the sun in the front yard. A little startling at first. We saw a few baby garter snakes last year but not nearly as big as this one. It was about 3 ft long. After about an hour of watching it Devo finally scooped it up in a shovel and put it in the field behind the house. The snake actually hissed at the kids when Devo started bothering it and mom made them back away. After searching the internet we have decided it was a gopher snake.

Of course Jake was in heaven. (I was surprised he didn't ask to keep it for a pet, maybe because it's a lot bigger than the ones at Petsmart)

Happy Father's Day

This was our cake we made dad this year. He just finished playing in the State Am. tournament (which he didn't do as well as he wanted) so hopefully the cake cheered him up. Emily was a great help with putting on frosting and ideas for decorations. (it's pink because dad wanted cherry frosting) Jake just popped in and out to check on our progress and put the headlights on. We also finished his yearly video to show him of all the fun we had this year. Jake loves to watch it over and over.

Jake loves to go golfing, play ping pong, and scare dad. Emily loves playing tickle monster, going for motorcycle rides, and bike rides with her Dad. We think our Dad is the best.

Vegas Trip

Devo had a conference in Vegas at the end of May and we couldn't let him go with out us, so we tagged along so we could play with Grandma Skinny.
This is a Big Daddy Dave's at Leatherbys. Dad use to eat this whole 15 dollar sundae by himself when he was younger, and he just had to let the kids experience this tradition too! He said it use to be a whole lot better and bigger too. Things just aren't like they use to be. The kids had no trouble finishing it and they loved the hot fudge. They kept asking for more. They had it running down their arms it was so good.

We always love swimming at Aunt Kim's. Dad finally got Emily to go off the high dive. Jake had no fear. He walked right off with no hesitation. We also got to roast hot dogs and s'mores with Grandpa skinny. The kids like roasting them more than they like eating them. Thanks for the fun!
