Mount Timpanogos

To help my sister, Jill, with her bucket list before she turned 40 in February we hiked Mount Timpanogos.

 It was 6:45 when we reached the Timpanogos trail.  We had to hike an extra mile because the parking lot was closed for construction.

The first part of the hike was beautiful!

 We thought we were half way there here.  WRONG!

 Not even half way up my hips started to kill.  I had to use Jill's walking sticks the rest of the way.  I had a pack around my waist with water and snacks and I think the added weight strained my muscles sooner than I would of liked.

 So we get to this point and we see a little white spot at the point of the mountain and Terri and I say, "We are not going up there!"  Terri struggled with the altitude.

 This is where Terri and I thought the top was.  It was only the saddle.

 From the saddle to the top, it took us another 2 hrs.  It was by far the hardest part of the hike.

 Have no idea how I made it.  Maybe it was the fact that Devo bet 50 bucks that I would not make it to the top.  Now he owes us dinner.

We started to go down this trail, along the ridge, to the glacier but turned around 1/4 mile later.  Way to steep for us.

 The cliff on the one side was just a little too scary for my tired legs.

 After we reached the top and started down we felt triumphant,  Then we realized we had 7 miles to go down hill.  With the pretty scenery on the way up it didn't seem quite so far.

 It rained on us for the last 2 1/2 hrs.  Not to much talking on the way down our feet and knees were killing us.  We started in the dark and we ended the hike in the dark too.  Took us 12 hours.  Thanks to Terri and Jill for going at my speed.  I'd have to say that this was the hardest physical thing I have ever done.

Six Mile Pond

 The last week of June we went camping to Six Mile Pond. Fun to be able to spend time with family and friends even if Sophie cried all night and day! We fished, fished, and fished for 2 days.  Went on a couple 4 wheeler rides and played in the water.  With all the fires in Utah we were not allowed to have a campfire.  A little bit of a bummer but the good thing was that we went to bed only smelling of bug spray instead of smoke too.

When Emily was bending over putting her fish back in the water, Maggie came up behind her and pushed her in the water just about head first.  A little scary, and Emily was not happy.

So proud of Jake, no crying when we put the fish back.  He did want to keep the big fish Emily caught to mount on his wall though.

Everyone had to dip their toes in the water.  Except for mom, water was way to cold and she doesn't have much luck when it comes to rivers.

While making our summer list of fun, Jake says catch a lizard.  I didn't write it down because I've never seen a lizard around our house ever.  A week or so ago he found one in the driveway out front.  We researched what they eat and how to keep as pet.  Each day Jake catches a baby grasshopper for it to eat.  He wants me to buy crickets at the pet store for it.  I refused.  I'm hoping it dies soon.  It is still alive and well 2 weeks later.  Too many pets!

Happy father's Day

Happy Father's Day DAD!  We love you tons!

We made him a Barcelona cake for his favorite soccer team.

Emmy was a great help and gave mom lots of encouraging words when
 things didn't quite work just right.  No video for dad this year.
He made mom speak in church, no time to stress over both.
maybe he'll get two years in one next year.
