Soccer Emily

Soccer started the 2nd week of Aug.,  with a British Soccer Camp.  3hrs a day for 5 days.  It was a hot week but they loved it.  Emily and Jake improved a ton.

Emily is our defensive player

She started to be more aggressive after the first few games.

She stood up to the big kids too! She plays against 4-6 grade boys and girls.

She started the season not being able to kick the ball very far but by the end she was kicking it pretty good.

Even with the left foot!

She had some pretty good saves in the tournament sacrificing her body. We were so proud of her improvements!

Her team won the first game in the tournament!  Then lost a close 2nd game.

First Day of School

My little kiddos are growing up!  Can't believe they are 4th and 2nd graders!  Jake loves his new BYU back pack.  Emily loves her homemade school bag.  "Can't believe my mom made it!"

Snake

One day in June Jake came in the house while I'm on the phone and says, "Mom I found a snake and it only struck at me 2 times.  Here I am freaking out thinking it's a rattle snake but he informs me it's not.  He wants a tupperware bowl to put on top of it to capture it.  I go out with him to take some pictures.  It was a pretty aggressive snake trying to get out of the yard through the fence. While I was taking pictures it found the crack in the gate and slipped through into the field behind the house.  Of course there were lots of tears because I let it get away.

So intent on catching it he went out to the field with my swiffer to catch it. While he was back there I hear him start crying.  I wonder did he find the snake and get bit.  Did he get stung by a wasp?  When he finally got to me he says, as he's crying, "I saw a black widow."  I am deathly afraid of black widows and I thought to myself, "What have I taught him!"

Baseball

Jake really enjoyed playing coach pitch baseball this spring.

He enjoyed having dad help coach

He did hit a home run this year!

 He enjoyed playing first base

He also enjoyed playing 3rd base.  He ran this kid down trying to get to home plate.

Tagging players out was his thing.

Good hit!

They were coach pitch champions.  They won the tournament.  Jake was pretty excited.

Jake got to play on a club team that played this fall.  Was pretty excited at first.  It wasn't a coach pitch team though.  We had to find players to pitch.  It was a little tough.  The games were 2 hours long. Lots of standing in the outfield. He got to bat a couple times.  I think it ruined him for playing baseball.  Devon asked him if he was going to play baseball next year and he said,"NO"  Just too slow a pace for him.  ( Can't believe I didn't get any pictures of that team)

The Beast

So Devo found a truck in Saint George.  So we decided to go down and look at it.  We had just checked into the hotel at 9:30pm and the sales guy calls and says they just sold the truck.  A little disappointed but at least the hotel has a pool and the kids are happy.  Devo and I are sitting by the pool and he tells me I should call to see if they still have the truck.  He didn't trust the sales guy.  I call and get his recording.  He calls right back and says the car is back up for sale.  The guy who put deposit down the night before couldn't pass the credit check.  So we went and looked and of course drove home in a new truck.

 Jake calls this the" katuzie"
fun jumping of the rock waterfall

We call it the beast because it is so tall.  It is a climb to get in.  I told Devo it's embarrassing to drive in.  I feel like I'm in high school cruising down main street.  Everyone just stares.  It's a Dodge Ram Diesel.  Hoping to pull a trailer behind it some day.  Devo loves it of course.  Had to do some rearranging to fit it in the garage.  It just barely fits.

Summer Fun / Hang time

My kids new favorite place.  Hang Time

Trampolines everywhere  the kids actually learned to do front flip into foam pit.  One of the employees   tried to teach Jake how to do a double flip.  He almost did! Got 1 and a half.

After so much jumping requires lots of rest time

 Devo and the slam dunk

Basket ball is a favorite for Jake

Emily loves running up and sliding down.

Mom just needs a break.

Tarantula

On our way to Aunt Jill house this summer, early in the morning, we saw this tarantula crossing the road driving through Goshen Canyon.  Mom was driving and saw something crawling across road, she passed it and then decided to stop to take a closer look.  First she backed up and rolled down the window, but then decided to pull off the road so we could get out and take a close up look.  It was pretty cool.  Usually I don't take the time to stop but decided it would be ok if we were a little late, so we could enjoy these rare moments in nature.
